Interstate standard for polymer composites to take effect on January 1, 2017

The Interstate standard GOST 33742-2016 “Polymer Composites. Classification” will be put into effect as a national standard for voluntary application, starting from the 1st of January, 2017. The corresponding order was signed by the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart).

The standard covers polymer composites and establishes their classification. According to the document, polymer composites are defined as a solid product composed of a matrix, consisting of a thermoset or thermoplastic polymers or elastomers, and a filler, which includes reinforcing fillers.

The draft standard was developed by the association of legal entities “Union of Composites Manufacturers”. The document was adopted by the Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification in accordance with the Protocol № 86-P of March 29, 2016.
