Belarus-based scientists scoop up award for research into basalt composites

Belarus Federation of Trade Unions awarded the Prize in the Field of Labour to the team from the Polotsk-Steklovolokno JSC for the research into basalt composites. Belarus-based scientists are the only to receive this year’s prize for the research into chemical, mining, and oil industries.

Polotsk-Steklovolokno JSC is famous both in the Belarus basalt composites market and abroad. The company is a constant participant of international exhibitions, including JEC, a major European event dedicated to composites. This prize awarded to the scientists proves that country leadership has recognized their merits.

Last year the company modernized their production facility and greatly expanded the range of basalt composite products. They use imported stone as a raw material. However, if the development of a newly discovered basalt deposits in Brest region starts, Polotsk-Steklovolokno will be able to process local raw material.
