Basalt fiber cable is introduced at JEC 2018 by Germany-based CG TEC

A multilayer protective tube made of high-performance basalt fiber, high strength stainless steel tubes and optionally a polyethylene or polyamide sheath is among several composite solutions showcased at the exhibition stand of Bayern Innovativ.

Optical fibers, coax or copper wires can be used as a communication element for this cable type. This lightweight, high strength material was originally intended for the thermal insulation of nuclear reactors. Due to unique basalt fiber properties, it offers high-temperature resistance, lower line loss and small sag. This multilayer basalt tube is practically indestructible, permanently unbreakable, and still retains its properties at the temperature range from -30 °C to +70 °C.

The company portfolio includes a hybrid basalt and glass fiber cable with operational temperatures range from -30 °C to +100 °C.

JEC World 2018, the main composite event of the year where attendees can see CG TEC solutions “in live”, has started in Paris exhibition centre Pari-Nord-Villepinte on March 6th and will last for three days.
