Vacuum Infusion for Composite basalt fabric plate

Composite plates are made of basalt fabric and polyester resin.

Necessary rock studies of the gabbro and andesite basalt groups for the suitability as the raw material base for the production of continuous basalt fiber (CBF). A unique technique including laboratory melting and pilot-industrial melting at the high-tech equipment.

The plates were created with a vacuum infusion method with 6 basalt fabric and polyester resin The work was done in Structural and Composite Engineering Laboratory at Reykjavik University.
