According to the local media, the production of basalt fiber insulation got to the top 5 of the best business ideas of 2015 in Brest. Basalt fiber insulation doesn’t contain phenol-formaldehyde resins. Due to this key advantage, the material can be called the most eco-friendly among its counterparts.
The plant, producing thermal and sound insulation based on super-thin basalt fiber, is located 40 km from the city of Brest in the town of Vysokoe. The plant’s planned capacity is expected to reach 400 tons per year.
This capacity must be provided by two machines for basalt fiber production equipped with a block to manufacture mineral textile of required geometrical pattern and size. To produce mineral mats, the broaching machine is used.
The executives of BelMineralGrupp Ltd feel certain that they won’t have any problems with the sale of finished products. This is mainly due to the fact the Belarus material is cheaper for the end-user compared to, for example, the Ukrainian counterparts. According to the experts of BelMineralGrupp, the demand for the product is 1 million m² per year for the company “Brestgazoapparat” alone.
In addition, the demand for heat-resistant, fireproof and sound insulating materials is constantly growing, and basalt fiber provides tremendous opportunities in this field. The only thing left for the Belarusian manufacturers is: to tailor the products to the local consumers’ demands.
