According to the decree of the President of Turkmenistan, the new facility will sit on a plot of land, 5 hectares in size, located on the territory of Wekilbazar District. To begin with, it is envisaged that basalt fiber will be imported from Russia, subsequently indigenous production facilities based on local basalt deposits must be established.
Turkmenistan has already conducted experimental research on the manufacture of basalt fiber from local raw materials, stated online edition “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”. Moreover, the town of Turkmenbashi has started commercial production of basalt fiber from basaltic porphyries of Ufrinsky fields.
The project on the manufacture of sandwich panels is performed by the individual enterprise “Ak hundzhi” belonging to Maryiskiy branch of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan. This enterprise was the first in the country to construct the facilities and to launch sandwich panels of another material, that is, expanded polystyrene foam.
However, the temperature stability of basalt fiber is much higher than polystyrene, which was one of the reasons that led to the decision to build a new production.
