Two production lines will manufacture composite lighting poles and basalt fiber mesh for road construction. The Galen plant raised 700 million RUR of investments at the time of launch.
Galen managed to find a strategic investor for its project in Kaluga. However, it cannot be called a “newcomer” to the composite market, because Galen’s market share accounts for about a third of the total volume of composite rebar manufactured in Russia. Thus, the potential market volume is much larger than the current volume of production. Therefore, the company is set to double export of their products, and not only for the construction industry.
The new Galen plant is a part of the Vorsino Industrial Park. According to Mikhail Men, the Minister for Construction, who attended the launching ceremony, new production facilities “will allow the Russian construction industry to significantly reduce the dependence on imported energy-saving composite structures and materials.” In addition, these new production facilities fit perfectly into the strategy of innovative development of the construction industry to 2030:
The strategy has a block structure, including the block dedicated to composite materials. Our objective is to extensively develop modern codes of practice; it is not to slow down, but to develop the manufacture of advanced materials, including composites.
