Swiss composites group to open wind blades mould production facility in Poland

A new facility in Szczecin will allow Gurit to increase the tooling equipment market share in Europe. The facility in Poland will improve customer proximity and enable even faster delivery to the European wind turbine manufacturers.

Necessary rock studies of the gabbro and andesite basalt groups for the suitability as the raw material base for the production of continuous basalt fiber (CBF). A unique technique including laboratory melting and pilot-industrial melting at the high-tech equipment.

Gurit has been serving wind turbines tooling and components market with high-quality, cost effective wind blade moulds and related equipment since 2010.

The company also specializes in the development and manufacture of advanced composite materials, binders, and select finished parts and components for the turbines. The Gurit’s epoxy prepregs range comprises resins for the manufacture of longitudinal bars and wind turbine blades from basalt fiber.

The new site will complement the operating production center in China, optimizing the utilization of core competencies and the efficient allocation of resources.
