Mercedes-Benz GLS Black Crystal got a tuning kit based on basalt fiber

A tuning package from LARTE Design comprises about 50 components made of different materials including basalt fiber.

According to the package developers, basalt fiber composite is used for tuning bumpers, the structure that is often subjected to impacts. The front bumper is complemented by carbon fiber inserts and a lower splitter.

Basalt bumper is a lightweight but very strong component capable of preventing a lower part of the body from damages caused by collisions.

The studio uses the process of vacuum infusion to produce basalt composite components. It is not the first car model LARTE Design has applied basalt composite. The company has introduced tuning packages with basalt composite components for Infinity and Tesla before.
