Tecniplas, Brazilian leader in tanks and special composite equipment, provided two water tanks to Sabesp, the water and sewerage utility company of the state of São Paulo, that were transported by helicopter to the site of installation. This was the first time a company worked out something like this to transport composite tanks in Brazil.
“The reservoirs were installed in the region of Ibiúna city, in an area of difficult access and surrounded by the Atlantic Forest, which made the transport by road unfeasible,” explains Priscila Moraes, marketing supervisor of Tecniplas.
With a diameter of 3.8 meters, a height of 9 meters, and weighing two tons, the tanks can store 110 cubic meters of potable water each. They are part of the water system that supplies the surrounding communities. “This is an interesting application also because it showcases how composite materials can be recommended for storing and coming into contact with potable water, provided that they are formulated with resins used specifically for this purpose.”
Founded in 1976, Tecniplas also provides special tanks and equipment to the following industries: ethanol and sugar, pulp and paper, chlor-alkali, chemicals and petrochemicals, fertilizers, food and beverage.
