To better support the increasing interest in the use of nano-scale additives for enhancing the properties of composite materials, NetComposites has recently completed a significant upgrade to their facilities for working with materials such as nanoclays, carbon nanotubes and graphene.
The new dedicated area of their development centre has been designed and specified in consultation with the Institute of Occupational Medicine. The facilities provide improved segregation and containment facilities, including a glove box for safe nanomaterial handling, a fume cupboard, and mixing and dispersion equipment for deploying nanomaterials within composite resin systems.
Ben Hargreaves, NetComposites’ Consultancy Manager, commented, “In conjunction with our existing pilot-scale composite processing facilities, this upgrade allows us to better support our clients as well as our own R&D activities in the field of nanocomposites. We look forward to working with our clients to help develop and validate the performance of the novel nano materials.”
