German designers will showcase basalt or other fiber reinforced lightweight textile constructions for railway vehicles during the exhibition in the city of Chemnitz.
This year the international exhibitions for technical textiles mtex+ и LiMA will be in line with the motto “Technical textiles meet lightweight design”. So, the application of lightweight composite structural materials for railway vehicles is in the main focus of the events.
Hörmann Vehicle Engineering in cooperation with partners decided to put lightweight textile constructions in the center of their exposition at the sector of railway vehicals. Visitors will see an actual projects, as well as virtual designs of chassis and compartments.
Using those designs Hörmann will compare traditional and new lightweight construction materials, their properties and products produced of glass, carbon, basalt or bamboo fibers. For example, entrance doors will be made of a carbon composite, but basalt and bamboo fiber will be used as reinforcing agents for cladding and internal components.
“Due to the mechanical and thermal properties they are well suited to be used as reinforcing fibers for composite materials, and also as cladding parts of structural components”,
Basalt and bamboo fibers attracted attention of the German specialists as natural and renewable raw materials, that are currently important not only in the context of weight saving.
The International Exhibition for Technical Textiles 7th mtex+ and LiMA lightweight design exhibition will be held in Chemnitz, Germany, on May 29-30, 2018.
