CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles, a subsidiary of State-owned trainmaker CRRC, has announced that it has developed a new driverless carbon-fiber monorail train.

The company said the new generation of its driverless monorail train can endure extreme weather, with temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius. Partly made of carbon-fiber composite, the new model is 25 percent lighter than a traditional train, which could reduce energy consumption by 22.7 percent. Carbon fiber is obviously a key material for the company : early January, it announced it has developed subway train made of carbon fiber.
CRRC Changchun has more than 18,000 employees and annually manufactures more than 8,000 trains. Its products have been exported to more than 20 countries and regions, including the United States, Australia and Brazil.
