TAG Heuer unveiled its Carrera 1887 Carbon Matrix Chronograph – a futuristic timepiece expertly manufactured using carbon matrix composite.

The Carrera Calibre 1887 Carbon Matrix is one of TAG Heuer’s most avant-garde interpretations yet of the iconic Carrera, the motor-sport inspired watch designed by Jack Heuer in 1963.

In developing the Carrera CMC, TAG Heuer’s engineers and designers adopted the same space-age carbon composite pioneered in Formula One and the aerospace industry, and applied a very complex miniaturised manufacturing process – the result is a timepiece that is light, resilient and very cool.

The case design is based on the famous TAG Heuer Carrera Mikrogirder, winner of the 2012 Aiguille d’Or at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève. The new Carrera shares the Mikrogirder’s distinctive asymmetrical “bullhead” case with base horns design. The crown and chronograph pushers are mounted at 12 o’clock, like a classic stopwatch.

Powered by the in-house Calibre 1887 movement, the Carrera 1887 CMC optimises avant-garde design and superior timekeeping functionality.
