Biesterfeld’s product portfolio now includes Balsasud Core, CoreLite PET, CoreLitePVC foams as well as CoreLite Board.
CoreLite PVC foams are closed-cell foams that are ideal for use in lightweight constructions, not only due to their exceptional compression and shear strength, but also because of their excellent moisture-resistance. They can be used with other elements to create sandwich structures with outstanding static and dynamic loading capacity. The material is primarily used in the marine and automotive sectors, and in the wind power industry, for example in rotor blades.
Biesterfeld Spezialchemie now also offers Balsasud Core: the finest balsa wood core material on the market. This is a naturally fire resistant material which has excellent fatigue resistance. Balsasud Core is not only very robust, but also has exceptional compression and shear strength. In the marine industry, this product can be used with equal success in a ship’s hull, its interior or on deck.
“We are delighted to be able to extend our composite product portfolio thanks to this new cooperative venture”, states Dr Johannes Martin, Sales Manager Performance Products, Biesterfeld Spezialchemie GmbH. “Balsasud adds an entirely new type of product to our portfolio: Balsasud’s innovative PC11 Pro-Coating increases the balsa core’s ability to bond to laminates and significantly reduces the amount of resin absorbed by up to 76 % compared to uncoated raw balsa wood. These properties mean we can now develop extremely strong, rigid components that are not only lighter in weight, but also lower cost to produce.”
“Biesterfeld will be a strong and reliable partner for us. Thanks to their proven experience with core materials, Biesterfeld’s experts can offer a comprehensive range of services and technical, application-specific advice. These are the very best preconditions for positioning our products effectively and successfully in the market”, says Federico Frigeri, Managing Director for Europe at CoreLite.
