Patents have already been jointly filed and the two companies plan to expand sales for filters.

The product is an expanded mesh with reduced weight and strength. Applications include aerospace, automobiles, air filters for various facilities, mesh screens with high demand for electrical materials and durability, etc. President Mr Okutani said:

“We want to expand sales in aerospace-related or electric vehicles widely in Japan and overseas, taking advantage of the product’s characteristics.”

Okutani Mfg, which is engaged in sales, aims for annual sales of 100 million yen (about 894,100 USD) in five years for this product.

The product has a maximum width of 1,000 mm and a maximum finished length of 50 to 70 metres. The material is made by Toray Plastics Precision.

Okutani Wire Netting Manufacturing plans to expand its lineup of plate thicknesses and mesh sizes in the future. The product will also be exhibited at Filtec, the filtration exhibition held in Germany in October.
