Tatarstan plans to launch the center of basalt technologies “Alabuga”

The Supervisory Board of the Special Economic Zone “Alabuga” chaired by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov considered 6 new investment projects.

Among the new companies that received the status of residents of the SEZ “Alabuga” in 2019, the project of LLC “The center of basalt technologies “Alabuga” was approved. It is planned to start production of continuous basalt fiber on a plot of 22.5 hectares.

“We approve the decision. If you need support from our side, we will help you. Making a competitive product out of stone is a good project”,

Rustam Nurgalievich Minnikhanov commented.

The project “CBT Alabuga” envisaging the production of 15,000 tons of continuous basalt fiber (roving) per year. The initiators of the project are the companis “Promtorg” and “Ecoprom”, which plan to invest in the production 3.3 billion rubles of its own funds. After reaching the design capacity (15 thousand tons of products per year), 431 jobs will be created. The start of production is scheduled for Q3 2020.

“I think this is a breakthrough technology. The material we produce is the material of the XXI century. These products will be used in composite materials in almost all industries. One of our competitive advantages is the use of Russian raw materials”,

Vladimir Boyko, the chief ideologist of the CBT Alabuga project, said in an interview with journalists and demonstrated the materials obtained.
