Tepco PG and Yasuda Seisakusho uses carbon fiber to reinforce steel tower
Tepco Power Grid is working with Yasuda Seisakusho to develop the “On-site VaRTM Method (Vacuum Impregnation Method)” as a measure against corrosion and deterioration of the parts that support steel towers.

A mechanism in which carbon fiber is wrapped around a corroded steel pipe and hardened with resin. It becomes a permanent measure at a low cost and in a short period of time, in parts’ replacement for instance. Aiming for a practical use in 2020, they are proceeding with the construction company’s Transmission Line Construction Co., Ltd.
