Coronavirus spread adjusts international exhibitions schedule

The threat of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic has adjusted the schedule of international congress and exhibition events for the composite industry.

On February 26, the organizers of the largest international exhibition JEC World 2020 announced the postponement of the event for May 12-14, 2020.

“The recent spread of the coronavirus in new countries last week, and especially countries playing an important role in the composite materials industry such as China, South Korea and Italy, has obliged the JEC World organization team and key stakeholders of the industry to reassess the current situation. Increased travel restrictions from authorities, but also at corporate level, both from exhibiting and visiting companies, have drastically reduced the potential attendance to the show. Moreover, the latest developments of the coronavirus have significantly increased the concerns of participating companies about the health of their employees. JEC Group has the same concerns, having health and safety of their exhibitors, visitors, partners and staff as a number one priority.”

Despite the fact that many participants and visitors had already planned their participation in JEC 2020 in March, everyone agreed that due to the existing threat of the coronavirus pandemic, the decision to postpone the show was justified.

Another major industrial exhibition HANNOVER MESSE, which is due to open its doors on April 20, 2020 in Germany, has so far announced that the issue of holding the exhibition in the planned period is under discussion and a decision will be made in the coming weeks after consultations with health authorities.

“On 25 February we held a meeting with the Executive Board of the Exhibitor Advisory Committee and the associations to discuss the current situation. All participants agreed that it is too early at this point to decide on postponing HANNOVER MESSE. We have received no substantial cancellations from exhibitors at the event, which opens its doors on April 20. We will be conducting further discussions with the health authorities this week to decide on the kind of measures that need to be implemented at HANNOVER MESSE.”
– noted Dr. Jochen Köckler, Chairman of the Deutsche Messe Managing Board.

The COMPOSITE EXPO 2020 exhibition, which will be held from April 21 to 23, 2020 in Pavilion 1 of the Expocentre in Moscow with the participation of more than 150 leading manufacturers and suppliers of raw materials, equipment and finished composite products from Russia, Belarus, Germany, Italy, Turkey, and other countries of the world will be on its schedule. According to the director of the COMPOSITE EXPO Konstantin Fateev, preparations for the event are going as usual, there are no major refusals from the exhibition participants due to coronavirus.
