Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), with the support of the holding Exor and Ferrari, has been collaborating for a few weeks with the Bologna-based Siare Engineering in the production of components for lung ventilators, equipment that is in great demand in hospitals and essential to keep the most serious patients alive. To deal with the Covid-19 emergency, the European auto industry temporarily suspended the construction of cars – which could not be sold due to the closing of dealers anyway – to help the medical sector, currently under strong pressure.
In a very short time, the manufacturing engineering team of the FCA EMEA Region managed to build the first group of solenoid valves in the Cento plant, a jewel of the production of high-performance motors for markets all over the world.
At the same time, the production sector was expanded in the Siare Engineering laboratories.
“Thanks to the impulse of all the parties involved in the operation – is explained by FCA – the construction of the valves in Cento will allow a reduction in the production time of the complete equipment inside the Valsamoggia plant by at least 30-50%. The aim is to help increase productivity at Siare Engineering through a gradual increase in daily production that started last week. This is possible, in addition to the collaboration of all the parties involved in the project, also thanks to a specific team of people from high professionalism of FCA who have already started working side by side with colleagues from Siare Engineering in the Bologna laboratories”.
