NAVY Commander thanks shipbuilders of the shipyard for successful towing of the Strog corvette

During a workshop on surface shipbuilding in the Admiralty, the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, expressed gratitude to the management and employees of the Sredne-Nevsky Shipbuilding Plant (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation ) for the successful completion of the towing superstructure operation for the Strogiy corvette under construction in waters “Severnaya Verf” in St. Petersburg.

Necessary rock studies of the gabbro and andesite basalt groups for the suitability as the raw material base for the production of continuous basalt fiber (CBF). A unique technique including laboratory melting and pilot-industrial melting at the high-tech equipment.

Earlier, on May 7, 2020, the specialists of the Sredne-Nevsky Shipbuilding Plant launched the superstructure on the water and prepared it for shipment to the customer. On May 13, the operation of towing a superstructure to the North Shipyard began.

The corvette superstructure is made of modern composite materials, which, in combination with the architecture of the design, provide optimal properties of radar stealth for ships of this class and significantly reduce the weight of the hull while increasing the useful volume of the premises.

Since 2003, he has been creating superstructures from composite materials for ships of the Navy of JSC “SSSZ”. To date, the Sredne-Nevsky Shipbuilding Plant has transferred 11 superstructures made of polymer composite materials for corvettes of projects 20380 and 20385 to the customers of the Northern Shipyard and Amursky Shipyard.
